Disadvantages of Flat/Apartment System for the Society

The growing population is always a menace for the society and while people are finding ways to cope up with the growing population, perhaps there are some serious disadvantages involved as well.

One of the problems involved with the growing population was the housing of the people. While the amount of land is limited and yet you need to provide separate houses to the breaking families, someone came up with the idea of apartments or flats. Within a very small area, people now create high-rise buildings and give a separate space to several families.

No doubt, this was a genius idea as it solved one of the main issues in the society. Now you can create houses for a lot of people in a very limited amount of space. However, was it something beneficial for the society? Well, while it offered a lot of advantages, there were several disadvantages as well.

Most of these apartments are built in metropolitan cities and people do wish to live in these big cities while having their own house as well as their personal vehicle. And everything looked good until these metro cities were hit by the pandemics.

Now people living in these small spaces were affected by viruses to a great extent and while they were heavily relying on the resources and medical facilities of the city, a storm of affected people was hardly able to be managed. While the medical facilities are always very limited, they could not cope up with the number of people needing attention in a short period of time.

And this is one of the major advantages of flat/apartment system where people live so close that a disorder affecting one person brings serious implications for the others. And while you need the medical attention, you see a huge line of people already standing before you to get help. In such a case, one could hardly think of surviving in serious cases and though you got your house, how would you get a life?
