The Chinese smartphone brand Tecno has landed in the Indian smartphone sector with its flagship device. The company recently came up with its flagship Phantom 9, priced at Rs 14,999.

At such a tempting price, Tecno is offering an in-display fingerprint sensor, 6GB RAM, enormous storage and a beautiful design. The Phantom 9 has already gained popularity among tech freaks like me and here is my Tecno Phantom 9 first impressions.

Design and Display

The Tecno Phantom 9 comes with a premium design. Supporting an elegant waterdrop notch housing front camera and sleek bezels, the handset does look good and has a thick chin at the bottom, which is pretty common in mid-range mobile phones.

A 6.4-inch AMOLED FHD+ display offers a resolution of 2340 × 1080 pixels.

On the back, Phantom 9 supports a dual-tone gradient finish back panel, which is in trend these days. A triple-camera module with LED flash at the rear is placed vertically within a small camera bump. Right below, there is Tecno branding. All in all, the device looks quite attractive at first glance.

Tecno Phantom 9: Specifications and software

There is an octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 processor inside which built with 12nm process, and ticking at the high speed of 2.35GHz. The processor is further paired with PowerVR GE8322 GPU to handle graphics remarkably.

6GB RAM is given there to handle daily tasks and multi-tasking comfortably. There is a whopping 128GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB by the means of microSD card. The smartphone runs the latest Android 9 Pie topped on HiOS version 5.0.

The main feature of Tecno Phantom 9 is its in-display fingerprint sensor. It is probably the only smartphone under 15k to offer In-display fingerprint. The Phantom 9 is loaded with a triple rear AI-backed camera module consisting of 16MP primary camera sensor, an 8MP wide-angle camera sensor and 2MP depth of field sensor. A 32MP AI selfie camera sensor along with Dual LED Flash is placed on the front.

The extra RAM and In-display fingerprint sensor give the Phantom 9 a slight upper hand. Additionally, the also supports Face Unlock feature for security purposes. The Phantom 9 is powered by a 3,500mAh battery which comes with a 10W charger.
