Travel Diaries or Showoff Diaries?

Can you be utmost honest when you say that you are a traveler? Well, you would nod your head if you are, and would say that you like traveling a lot. And now, the most important question is, when did you last travel without posting any picture or video on any social media or social media platform?

Silence! Now you cannot speak because it’s so hard to be a traveler and not be a showoff. People these days travel to create travel vlogs and they hardly see the beauty of the places they travel to with their eyes. All that they wish to do on their entire tour is click pictures, go live, shoot videos, create vlogs, and post them on all social media platforms to garner some attention and show people that they are traveling. So would you rather call these things — travel diaries or show-off diaries?

This would have hit some people really hard. How could I travel and not show it to the world? I spent so much money on something and people did not even come to know about it? This is so cruel and how do I get the true return on the money I invested in traveling/

Well, if this is what you think while you travel, let me tell you that you are not a traveler at all, you are just a showoff. A traveler is a person who visits different places, clicks pictures and videos as well, but keeps them personal. If your private life is making rounds on social media just because you need some people to know what you are doing or you need people to turn jealous of your acts, you cannot call yourself a traveler.

Social media is a place that was created to kill your free time and it is literally killing even your precious time that could be used to do something more productive. It’s because of these social media websites that people have started traveling more often than not and they do this just because they have to post a few pictures on the internet.

People see these pictures — some of them like and comment on these pictures and others ignore them after they get posted. And in a few days, these pictures are not even a memory unless the smartphone application sends you an update of the memory that you created a year ago by posting these pictures.

The only thing that these pictures do is make people jealous and create plans of traveling to the same place where the picture-posting-person went. Honestly, if this is your aim of traveling, would you say that you are a traveler? Well, you are simply a showoff or someone who would love to make people jealous by showing a form of their life that is not actually true.

Try an adventure this time. Travel to a good place, click photos and videos but keep them safe on your phone or any other device without uploading them on the internet. This is something adventurous that only true travelers can do. True showoffs will never be able to pull of anything like that.
