First of all, it is important to know what physical punishments really mean? I remember, when I was a kid, I used to get beaten very badly by my father even for small mistakes. He would find a stick and would not spare using it on my hands and legs.

Even his hands were so tough that when he slapped me on my face or used his fist on my back, it would hurt rather badly. And I am not kidding, every 90s kid would have faced such a thing in their childhood. As of now, the times have turned different.

Now the kids are so fragile that you cannot hit them. So physical punishments these days mean making your kid stand in the corner with their hands holding their ears or make them stand with their arms raised. Yes, these punishments are offered at home as well by the parents.

Besides, some people still slap and beat their kids, not in the urban regions but they do believe that physical punishments help their kids.

However, times have changed and so are the parents. While parents are working these days, kids might stay all alone or with their nannies, and even when the kids meet their parents at least once a day, the relationship has that wall of technology, where parents and the kids stay separated by smartphones.

The parents are busy in their own technological world while the kids stay busy with their phones and laptops as well. In such a case, parents are hardly aware of what their kids do.

And when the relationship between the parents and kids is not so good these days, even slight physical punishments could hurt the kids so hard that they try to commit suicide. This is not a joke and several kids have committed suicide in such a manner. So while parents believe that physical punishments could help their kids, they also avoid these to prevent any misstep from the kid.

But what if your kid is on the wrong track in life in any aspect? Will you let the kid go away without trying to stop him or her by being a bit strict? Well, you either lose the kid or you lose the bad habit of your kid and you can only do this when you have a good relationship with your kid.

So do not avoid physical punishments to your kids, because sometimes, being strict is important to tell them on the right track in their life. However, you need to make sure that the physical punishment does not affect the mental condition of your kid. It should not hurt them mentally and only offer a slight lesson. And for this, it is important to have a good relationship with your kid.
